| The place where one most needs a shrine is usually sadly lacking: the car. Whether you need a parking space or you don't want a flat, a personal patron saint is always handy. Choose a saint that gets the job done: Elvis, a sumo wrestler, Frida Kahlo, whoever can keep you out of a fender bender. Don't forget to make offerings of donut crumbs and spilled coffee. |

1. Cut a corner from the box, leaving a 4-inch x 3-inch section of the side and a 3-inch x 3-inch section along the bottom of the box with the corner as the joint between the two. With scissors round the corners on the base and cut a point in the back. 2. With white glue, attach your saint of choice to the back of the cardboard. Affix a saint-related image to the base of the shrine. 3. Wrap a metallic pipe cleaner around the edges of the box, gluing in place with multipurpose cement glue or a glue gun. The edges can also be decorated with glitter, rik rak, or ribbon. 4. Now is the fun part. Cover your shrine with sequins, glitter, and plastic flowers. What shrine is complete without candles? Add a couple of birthday candles to either side. Continue to attach all of your decorations with multipurpose cement glue. Let the glue dry. 5. Don't forget the back of the shrine (the part that will sit against the windshield). Glue on another saint-related image with a few jewels so other drivers know not to mess with you! |
