Getting there A romantic
slice of sixteenth-century England, Pelican Inn is a Tudor-style farmhouse
that's true to its heritage. Low doorjambs, leaded glass windows, English
antiques, exposed wooden beams, and full- and half-canopied beds are found
throughout the inn. Guest rooms occupy the second floor; a cozy restaurant
and pub are located on the ground floor. The charming half-timbered building enjoys a wooded setting between the
ocean and redwoods and is well positioned for a weekend of poking around
Marin County's romantic coastal areas. Stinson and Muir beaches are nearby.
There's a restaurant on site with an English-inspired menu and an English-style
bar with international selections of beer and wine and the requisite dartboard.
A hearty complimentary English breakfast is served in the morning.
Rooms for Romance Little Room 2 (high $100 range), oft requested and referred to as the
"cute room," features a bed that's tucked beneath a cozy, timbered canopy
frame.
Rooms 3, 4, and 5 (around $200) have balconies and overlook the parking
area and the woods. Rooms 1, 2, 6, and 7 overlook the lawn, hills, and
fields with horses. All rooms have queen-sized beds.
Bathrooms, while not lavish in space or amenities, are functional, just
like those of Olde England. All have tiled showers except Room 7, which
has a bathtub.
