20 inches in circumference (will fit most women)

Materials:
• Rowan Wool Cotton (50% wool, 50% cotton; 50g = 123 yds): 1 skein each main color (MC) 907 Deepest Olive and contrast color 1 (CC1) 930 Riviera
• Rowan Kidsilk Haze (70% kid mohair, 30% silk; 25g = 225 yds): contrast color 2 (CC2) 588 Drab
• Size 5 circular needle, 16 inches long, or size needed to obtain gauge
• Size 6 circular needle, 16 inches long, or one size larger than size used to obtain gauge
• Size 5 double-pointed needles or second circular needle

Gauge:
11 stitches and 15 rows per 2 inches in stocking or stockinette stitch with MC on smaller needles
TO MAKE:
With smallest circular needle and MC, cast on 110 sts. Place marker and join in the round, being careful not to twist.

Rounds 1 and 5: *purl 2 together 4 times, (yarn over, knit 1) 3 times, yarn over; repeat from * around.

Rounds 2, 3, 4, and 6: Knit.

Switch to CC1.

Rounds 7, 8, and 10: Knit.

Round 9: *knit 2 together 4 times, (yarn over, knit 1) 3 times, yarn over; repeat from * around.

Switch to CC2.

Rounds 11, 12, and 14: Knit.

Round 13: *purl 2 together 4 times, (yarn over, knit 1) 3 times, yarn over; repeat from * around.

Switch to MC and larger circular needle.

Rounds 15, 16, and 18: Knit.

Round 17: *purl 2 together 4 times, (yarn over, knit 1) 3 times, yarn over; repeat from * around.

Switch to CC1.

Rounds 19, 20, and 22: Knit.

Round 21: *knit 2 together 4 times, (yarn over, knit 1) 3 times, yarn over; repeat from * around.

Switch to CC2.

Rounds 23, 24, and 26: Knit.

Round 25: *purl 2 together 4 times, (yarn over, knit 1) 3 times, yarn; repeat from * around.

Repeat rounds 15–26 twice. Switch to MC and smaller needles and repeat rounds 15–18.

DECREASES:
Switch to CC1.

Round 1: Knit.

Round 2: *knit 2 together 4 times, knit 3 together; repeat from * around; 50 stitches.

Round 3: *knit 2 together 2 times, yarn over, knit 1, yarn over; repeat from * around.

Round 4: Knit.

Switch to CC2.

Round 5: Knit.

Round 6: *knit 2 together, knit 1, knit 2 together; repeat from * around: 30 stitches.

Round 7: *purl 2 together, knit 1; repeat from * around.

Round 8: *knit 2 together; repeat from * around 10 stitches.

Break yarn and thread through yarn needle.

Using yarn needle, thread yarn through remaining stitches. Pull tight (like a drawstring purse). Poke the needle through the center to the inside of the hat. Weave end in a circle around the center stitches.
