Associate Marketing Manager, Children's

Chronicle Books is looking for a Children’s Associate Marketing Manager to work with the Director of Marketing, Children’s to provide overall strategic direction for Chronicle Books’ Children’s Marketing Department. This role is responsible for creating and implementing marketing plans to build sales, increase profitability and enhance our visibility in the marketplace; the person in this role will also help to develop Chronicle Books as a market leader in children’s publishing. Keys to success include an astute use of resources and constant focus on increasing sales, revenue, market-share and profitability. The Children’s Associate Marketing Manager will work closely with the Children’s Pub Group to develop the list, communicate with sales, and provide marketing expertise throughout the publication process.

Primary Job Responsibilities


  • Working closely with Children’s Pub Group, Sales and Publicity to achieve goals
  • Working closely with Editors to understand and contribute to their ideas and vision for their titles, and to keep them informed on marketing efforts
  • Collaborating with the Director of Marketing, Children’s and other team members to develop and implement annual long-term marketing and publicity strategies for the Children’s publishing group in all market channels
  • Continually assessing and evaluating Children’s marketing initiatives and methods with the team and ensuring resources are utilized in the most effective manner
  • Communicating regularly with Sales/Marketing and the Children’s publishing group on the retail marketplace, trends, and challenges in positioning the objectives of the Children’s list with the ultimate goal of driving and improving sales
  • Partnering with other key Marketing staff, especially in the Lifestyle pub group, on their parenting and family-friendly titles and to ensure integrated marketing and publicity efforts
  • Using financial resources wisely

    Job Qualifications:


    Strong project management and motivational ability, skilled in collaborating with cross-functional personnel (sales, publicity, editorial, design), adept at generating ideas at a highly creativity level, ability to handle multiple projects and demonstrating keen communication skills. Requires 3-5 years of experience in children’s book publishing-related marketing.
