*UNICORN WISHES*

Unicorn Wishes accoutrements

This morning when I came into work, I unpacked our new Unicorn Wishes box and flipped open the Unicorn Wishes booklet of information and read this:

“These beautiful and mysterious creatures have captured the popular imagination for centuries. The belief in their mystical powers and abilities—and in their very existence—has a long and storied past. Depicted in art, folklore, and literature of diverse world cultures, from ancient times through the Middle Ages and into the present day, unicorns have been thought to possess magical qualities.”

“I could use a little magic in my life” I thought to myself. So, inspired, I went about setting up my Unicorn menagerie.

Still inspired, I asked the editor, Kim, and the designer, Suzanne (who wrote this blog post about the project), some questions.

What was your personal inspiration when working on Unicorn Wishes?
Kim: Hope and magic.
Suzanne: They’re awesome and magical. And we felt unicorns were going to be making a come back (metaphysically)

Did your view of Unicorns change throughout the process of creating Unicorn Wishes?
Kim: Yes, they have a long and storied past that is quite extraordinary.
Suzanne: Yes, the history of how they came to be awesome.

If you could have your own Unicorn, what would you name it?
Kim: Esperanza
Suzanne: Harry

Which setting does your Unicorn reside in?
Kim: The enchanted forest
Suzanne: Waterfall

I hope you have a magical, fantastical day,

Hannah

My mom is posting my comment for me about what I’d name my unicorn. I’ve thought hard about this and decided to call her Wobniar. It’s Rainbow spelled backwards. I love rainbows and she would like this name. Actually, I have three pet unicorns. Their names are Pony-pone, Fluffyball and Darla. My unicorns make me have good dreams. They take turns coming to pre-school with me. Mom thinks I don’t really need another but Wobniar would really like to meet and live with the other unicorns. That would make her happy.

Okay…the unicorn magic must already be working because I am NEVER the first person to leave a comment…whoa…spooky! I’d name my unicorn Max. Why? Who could not like the name Max, therefore everyone would love my unicorn. Bonnie /:) (That’s my unicorn smily face but the horn is crooked.)

I would love this; I collected unicorns as a child!

My unicorn would be named, Bellissima!

    Marsh E. Mallow.

This is the most magical product ever.

My unicorn’s name would be Retirement.

I would name my unicorn Geraldine K. Pranceyflance.

    Or Jeff.

I would name the unicorn Bunny – cause it implies careless and cute to me which the unicorn should be as its only job would be joyously bounding around (and acting in the occasional Harold & Kumar movie) – that and I name dogs after other animals (hence my dogs Ducky & Sugar Bear) so I figure why stop now?

Wow! What awesomely enchanting names you all are coming up with. It’s going to be too hard to pick just one so I think I’m going to have to pick a couple folks to win Unicorn Wishes. I’ll let you all know on Friday.

    Stay magical!

    Treasure.

Treasure is an animal that has been searched for for centuries.
Treasure will stand at the end of the rainbow in answer to your wishes.
The Treasure you’ve been searching for will stand on the seashore as the “X” to your map!

    :)

I would name my unicorn “Brooklyn” after where I live. It takes a little bit of luck and wishing on magical unicorn in order to bloom where you are planted.

    Lovely idea Chronicle Books!

I’d name my unicorn Ultima, Spanish for “last”. Because it is a beautiful word, with a touch of sadness, and The Last Unicorn was the best unicorn movie ever made.

    i would name her Peace

My dad said he would name it Fuzzy Bob, but I would name it Heart.

From Sophia Valvis, a Unicorn friend, 9 years old.

I couldn’t pick favorites (though Geraldine K. Pranceyflance & Wobniar were up there!), so I drew names. And the winners are, **drumroll**, Sophia (“Heart”), Amy (“Bunny”), and Emma (Ultima). Congratulations!

Hello, I found this (by chance!) whilst searching for Esperenza, as that is the name of the Unicorn who came to me recently, Kim might be interested in reading ‘The tale of the Unicorn’ under ‘inspitation’ on http://www.wingedmessenger.info I also have a range of cards called ‘Mandala Wishes’ and have been writing a great deal about the return of magic…
