Spring Cleaning with the Kids!
5.27.09 | Jessica Levy | Children's
We’re on a countdown towards summer, but it’s still officially spring, and no time like the present to get kids excited about doing—oh no!—chores.
In honor of spring cleaning season, we’re giving away 10 copies of The Chore Board, which comes with a magnetic board, colorful character pieces, and a dry-erase marker. Just leave a comment below and we’ll choose winners at random on Friday, June 5th!
Good luck!

What great timing for this giveaway! I know 3 little monsters that would benefit from a chore board this summer.
Roo and Jasper definitely need some coaxing to get stuff done!
What a great idea!
This looks great adn would simplify life a lot!
These look great.
This is so much more fun than the boring white board or paper print out that we tack up on the cork board & fridge! I need one! Thx. (^_^)
nice, could help many households!
This would help a lot!
What a great contest idea! I know 3 little rascals who’d benefit tremendously from this book!
I would love to have the two bookworms in my house clamoring to do their chores.
What a super*cool way of getting the little ones to do chores.
I’m so excited about this giveaway! I know my Little Man definitely needs coaxing if I expect to get any kind of help around here! Fabulous idea guys!
a real quest to find a chore-less-day while doing chores on the way. Sound perfect to us!
Wow! Would this be a big help in my household!
I wonder if this will work to inspire returning adult children?
Oh my gosh — my son needs this! I haven’t found a system yet that motivates him to do his chores. This would really help. Thanks for the giveaway.
This would be so helpful — I haven’t yet found a system that motivates my son to do his chores. Thanks for the giveaway!
hope we win–we sure could use this @ our house!
I need this in the worst way humanly possible. It is like pulling teeth to get my son to do chores!
OMG! My kids so need this chore system.

Would LOOOVE to have something like this for a visual chore list for my 3 boys. I know they would like this idea too!!
A chore chart illustrated by J.otto Seibold? Yes, please!
Puts the fun into the reality that kids and adults are in it together–that no one is a passenger on the “family cruise ship” but all are an active part of its crew!

Sign me up. As a teacher, I love putting kids to work. Thanks.
I think this would definitely carry things right past the cry of “but I didn’t KNOW there was anything I was supposed to be doing!” ;) 10 people’s summers are going to be much improved, thank you!
My 18-year-old needs reminders that her bedroom at home is not her college dorm room. This just might do the trick!
Sounds like fun! An interesting way to remind oneself.
I have five kids who have the work ethic of cats. Figuring out how get them to chase a ball of yarn would be great. I also coach Football and Basketball and would love to get my players to do some community chores. Our community gives them an opportunity to play, so how about something in return.
Excellent contest! My son is just entering the phase of earning an allowance, and helping out around the house more. This would come in handy. Thanks!
I so need a way to organize and track chores for my two boys. We do not do them regularly and I’m not always sure which chores they are capable of.
What a great giveaway. Looking for something like this for my son. Perhaps this will inspire him to help his mommy out.
I think I need the chore board for myself.
My 4 and 7 year olds are just starting with chores, and this would be great.
We plan for chores but don’t always follow through and get things done. This could help us move from good intentions to actual cleanliness.
This better work on husband or I might have to resort to a “honey-do” list!
Lemme think…mix J. Otto with chores and fun for kids? Sounds good to me. I know 4 munchkins that would benefit from this one. Thanks!
Chores = Allowance
Allowance = Saving up for what they want
What they want = a guinea pig
Oh, I know a couple of little darlings who could benefit from this! And it’s cool enough that they might even *LIKE* doing some chores!
I’m a newly-single mom who would love to have some extra help around the house. This looks like just the ticket!
I can already see how I will use this for our classroom chores and routines next fall. Who says chores have to take place at home!
Does this work for husbands too?
I live with two of my Grandchildren and take care of them during the day. This would be just dandy!
Thanks
The perfect book to keep the kids away from TV and video games for the summer. With teaching and grad school my wife and I need all the help we can get. Pass it on and we’ll have our kids in line just like you suggest :¬). Maybe I can get the neighbors kids to help too.
This would be GREAT at our home!!
Great idea! As I am writing this post, I am surrounded by an ignored list of chores for my children. Come to the rescue, Chore Board!
This looks like such a clever board and I love the Olive illustrator!
This would be the perfect motivation for my 7 year old to help out more around the house.
Who couldn’t use some help getting the kiddos to chip in with the housework? Please enter me.

I would love to have this to keep me + the kiddos organized!
My sister-in-law could really use this for my niece. Or I could use it for when she visits on weekends. I know someone who has this and it is really cute.
Thanks so much for the great giveaway!
Only one more week until the kids are home for summer. And yet again, my summer resolution is to have them participate in the household maintenance. I’m hoping this would help to make the effort much more fun, for them and me!
This sounds like something we could use around here!
i so need this. I have three children
hooray! hooray!
a chore board so kids are no longer chore bored.
Do you think “The Chore Board” qualifies as a genuine birthday present, because I really want to put a copy in Tristan’s and Layla’s birthday bags this summer! This is just like when my husband gifts me another gardening tool!
Cheers,
Ivelisse
I would *love* to have the chore board in my house!
