A friend at work just sent me this amazing stitchable necklace from UK-based Return To Me that reminded me of the project we published with Jenny Hart called Stitchable Stationery. They both have the same concept (we call it “craft lite” at Chronicle) that offers the ultimate in personalization. As a creative but busy person, I love it!!
So, what do you think, should we do more of this “craft lite” concept? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below and I’ll send one randomly chosen lucky winner a free copy of Stitchable Stationery!
The Return To Me Customizable Necklace is a gold-plated grid into which you stitch your own design.
Like above, for example!

It’s the same idea with Stitchable Stationery. Jenny’s provided smart starting points with her illustrations – then you get to poke holes in the cards and stitch along the illustration lines, or add your own details. (Cards, envelopes, floss, and needles all included!)

I love the stitchable cards! They are darling and such a cute idea!
My thought is: more craft is always better, be it lite or super-sized!
Now I’m toddling off to check out that necklace…
As a busy creative person & parent I vote yes for more craft lite. Who doesn’t like (almost) instant gratification?
I definitely think you should do more craft lite projects! I’m a big fan. :)
I love Jenny’s work and have been working on projects from my copy of Embroidered Effects.
Thanks!
More crafts please! <3
I love both of these concepts. I am always looking for new jewelry and cute stationery. The ways to customize both things are pretty much endless. How fun!!
I love anything that lets me feel “crafty” without having to spend hours mastering it. I do also like to do some crafts that have taken hours to master, but to try something new craft lite is perfect.
I love the idea of Craft Lite and definitely think you should do more of it. As a contemporary crafts instructor in London, I know that the main thing standing in the way of more people doing crafting is TIME. Anything that can help busy people to still be able to express themselves creatively is a good thing.
And I’m a huge fan of Jenny’s work and have been ordering patterns from her for years and years. Would love the stationery!
Yes, do more!
That necklace and the cards are awesome. What a great way to expand the craft! seem like a great way to get more people into embroidery too!
Yes! More “craft lite” please! If you are not learning a craft from a mentor, it is awesome to get a book or kit that comes with the things you need to get started. Then if you like what you tried, you can venture out & try a project from scratch.
Mos def! I think for a lot of peeps, this quick satisfaction not only puts them in touch with their craft heroes, but allows them to have a piece of art that they collab’ed on with their fav artist. We all buy the books, but more often than not, we don’t make a lot with them.
Yes, more craft lite. Craft lite often gets the creative juices flowing in the direction of craft not-so-lite. Love it!
Definitely do more of this kind of thing. Not only are they fun mini-project for not-so-lite-crafters, but they’re great for non-crafters who want to dabble a little bit or for beginners who want to make something that looks great, but is easy to do.
Yes you should definetly put out more craft lite projects.
