As we roll deeper into the new year, I’ve found that one of my unannounced and un-looked for New Year’s resolutions seems to be to procure more art. So far, I’ve got my hands on an awesome print from Chronicle stationery artists, enormouschampion, and another great print from the comics-making genius Vincent Stall, otherwise known as King Mini. His print was based on a minor character from one of the greatest television shows of all time, Deadwood. You can check it out on Vinnie’s Etsy shop.

Another worthy Etsy shop belongs to comic artist Farel Dalrymple. Best known for his groundbreaking Pop Gun War series and Omega: The Unknown which he drew for Marvel (penned by Jonathan Lethem) and was recently featured in the 2010 Best American Comics Anthology. Farel’s Pop Gun Store features prints and original art, like this moody portrait of David Lynch.

Veering into the world of cute and colorful, check out Suzy Ultman’s shop. Having worked with Suzy on a variety of stationery projects here at Chronicle, I can attest to Suzy being a one-woman arbiter of cool—some people check blogs to stay on top of awesome vintage finds and weird and wacky art objects, I get emails from Suzy, like this one, showcasing her hand-curated Fisher Price Village People collection:

Or this amazing shot of her Masha & Friends Notecards lost in the American Southwest.

Suzy’s Etsy shop features cool prints, art, and cheerful, smile-inducing work.

Finally, if you want to drop big bucks, there’s always original art. One of the best comic book shops I have ever been to, run by charming, nice-as-heck people, is Toronto’s The Beguiling. They have an extensive collection of original comic art from a wide array of talented folks. Check out this amazing piece of art from Brian Lee O’Malley’s Scott Pilgrim series.

Go forth!
