Jelly rolls, charm squares, layer cakes, fat quarters. These are just a few of the terms I’ve learned from the pros – I’m talking about Chronicle Books authors, of course! They say that small fabric scraps and bundles are the way to go for quilting projects that are teeny-tiny, super-sized and everything in between. Kathreen Ricketson, author of Little Bits Quilting Bee, is one of those expert crafters singing the praises of pre-cut fabric packs. Since she’s the founder of the fabulous blog WhipUp and author of this brand new quilting book and her previous book, Whip Up Mini Quilts, I’m taking her advice.
Once I’ve got my fabric, the project I’m most excited to attempt in Little Bits is Kathreen’s “Step Lively” quilt. This quilt offers an introduction to strip piecing and a simple Bargello-style quilt method. I can’t wait to finish it and take a snooze under this vibrant quilt. It’s gorgeous, don’t you think?
Whether you are a novice quilter like me, or a pro like Kathreen, there’s something in this book for you. So please follow along on the Little Bits Quilting Bee blog tour, which begins on Monday on The Long Thread, the blog of Ellen Luckett Baker, another expert crafter and author of 1, 2, 3 Sew. You’ll definitely see lots of great project posts, Q&As, and a few great giveaways as well!
