Meanwhile in San Francisco…
If San Francisco could talk, what would it say? Illustrator Wendy MacNaughton discovered the next best thing: asking locals to describe daily life in the city in their own words. The result, Meanwhile in San Francisco, is a street-smart collection of everyday observations as diverse and lovely as the city itself. With sketchbook in hand and a natural sense of curiosity, MacNaughton paints an intimate portrait of the City by the Bay: from the bookshelves of the San Francisco Public Library to the bison in Golden Gate Park and the vendors at the farmers’ market. Meanwhile in San Francisco offers both lifelong residents and those just blowing through with the fog an opportunity to see the city with new eyes.
An apt metaphor for the many-layered city, the book jacket unfolds to reveal a hidden poster that’s beautiful, honest, funny, and a little smug. Just like San Francisco.
