Artists Take Action: An Instagram-Only Auction for Charity
Artists Take Action is an Instagram-only auction of original artwork. The premise is simple—each month, proceeds go to a different charity. You bid by commenting your price on the piece you want, and, if you win, you simply donate the money directly to the charity and show your receipt as proof. The artist then ships the piece to you, and everyone is happy.
Lisa Solomon—an artist, professor, author, activist, and mother—came up with the idea on November 9th, 2016. It was a means for her to do something with what she had: access to the artistic community, great organizational skills, and curatorial instincts.
We’re so excited to be involved for September’s action, featuring art and books by a few of our fabulous authors! All proceeds will benefit the literacy organization 826 Valencia.
To participate, head over to @artiststakeaction and comment with your bid on whatever catches your eye. The auction is now open and it will run through 6:30pm PT on Monday, 9/25.
You could take home a piece from…
Leah Reena Goren
And, of course, each piece will come with the artists’ respective book.
Good luck, and happy bidding!
