Bay Area Gallery Happenings
August 14th, 2008 | Jason Sacher | Art and Design
As many an up-and-coming designer knows, Chronicle Books hosts a Design Fellowship twice yearly. For the designers it’s a great opportunity to cut their teeth at a design-forward publishing house, and for us workaday grunts in editorial and beyond, it’s an amazing chance to meet a wide variety of creative people at varying stages of their careers, with varying passions and aesthetics.
Take for instance, our former Spring Design fellow (and my current roommate, at least until he returns to the great state of Utah at the end of the month) David Habben. Besides being an all around cool cat and decent guy, he is also a top notch illustrator with a really versatile, approachable style:
In fact, he’s contributing illustrations for an upcoming picture book for Chronicle about one of my very favorite subjects, baseball.
For Bay Area readers, why not go check out David’s work at Gallery 1988 this Friday night. It’s a group show of works on paper, and if the other artists showing are anywhere near as good as David, it should be a stellar show.
