DIANNA ASTON

Dianna Aston was born and raised in Houston, Texas, and graduated from the University of Houston with a BA in journalism. Her interest in nature came about after moving from the big city (where the wildlife was limited to cockroaches and sparrows) to a semi-rural part of Central Texas, where wildlife abounds. She started writing for children when her second child was born in 1996 and is now the author of more than eight books for children.

She spends a lot of time in her backyard and in nearby ponds, inspecting the undersides of leaves, the branches of trees, and the bottom of compost piles, hoping to find new eggs. She often enlists the help of her husband, her two children, and their assorted pets. She and her family live near Austin, on the edge of the Texas hill country.
