I like the book, patterns and style of directions with symbols, which make it easy to read the directions. However, there are several direction errors. The little bear being one, but the Frogs on Holiday has the arms having only 6 rows. I figure 22. The American Lions has stitch count errors for the body. The 8th row should be 21stitches and the 14th row 18 stitches. I haven't made all the patterns yet, but have noticed several have the wrong arm and/or leg row count. It may have been a good idea to have someone make all the patterns and edit as they went before publishing the book. It just adds a little frustration to an otherwise good book.

Need help with basic bear pattern

The photos in the book were so cute that I had to buy it. Now that I'm trying to make the little bear, I'm having some issues. I've tried different weights of yarns with different crochet hook sizes, but I can't seem to get the right match. My bear heads turn out more oblong than round. Can someone who has successfully made one up please recommend a weight of yarn and crochet hook size that worked for them?

Quick fix for bear pattern.

You're right, Nayo. You just have to do 8 rows (7 stitches each) for each arm and 8 rows (10 stitches each) for each leg. Quick fix. Thanks for pointing it out! I love the projects in this book - too cute!
