Patterns dont work

The first two patterns--basket stitch scarf & Trina scarf--did not work as written AT ALL. I don't think anyone ever knitted these things followiing the patterns. I had my local yarn store owners and two other experienced knitters try to do them and we were all baffled. Contacted the writer, after emailing her five times, and she referred me to her blog, which was also confusing.
