Eco Dog -- If the family is eating organic foods, recycling, and steering clear of chemicals, why shouldn't it be the same for Fido? Eco Dog is a comprehensive guide to nontoxic and planet-friendly dog care. It delivers information on the potential dangers of conventional pet food, grooming products, and accessories and then offers shopping tips and 25 home projects for all-natural alternatives. Rosemary Conditioner replaces chemical-laden flea collars while a Felted Dog Blanket recycles sweaters long past their prime. With cheerful photos of doggies enjoying organic treats, Eco Dog is a clear reminder that a healthy dog is a happy dog.

Corbett Marshall and Jim Deskevich are partners in Variegated, Inc., a manufacturer of custom bedding located in Catskill, New York.

Thomas Mason, DVM, is a veterinarian in San Francisco.

Aimée Herring is a New York City-based photographer.

Say Hurray for Eco Dog

I love this book! If you're just getting started on your own green life and your poor Fido's still suffering his flat discount store bed, this is your book. Go get it. Eco Dog not only answers a ton of the basic questions, the writers included very do-able projects that give even the "greenest" eco-head the tools to go from planning-to-do-it-someday to practitioner.

Cant wait for this book!

Technically, this book hasn't been released... but I've sneaked a peek at the advance copies and I can't wait for it to hit the shelves. I live in a tiny apartment with no yard, so I don't have a dog of my own. :( However, my sister is a green-fiend and she has a giant English mastiff named "Frankie." This book is perfect for them both. There are adorable photos throughout the book, and super cute crafty projects to make your own dog treats and toys. I'm almost tempted to move and buy a puppy just so I have an excuse to make the recycled denim doggie bed.
