I was deeply moved by the Bonesetter's Daughter opera and at first passed on buying this book as I returned to my seat at intermission. After the last act with all of the creators and cast on the stage and realizing that this was a unique artistic collaboration perhaps unparalleled in the history of music, still filled with the inspirational exuberance i felt from the last act, I scrambled back to the 
store an got a copy of Ken Smith's book. If anyone saw and liked this great opera they should read this book. For anyone who hasn't seen the opera, they should make it a priority to see it ASAP with the original direction, caste who and staging, and read this important documentation of this unique and remarkable artistic collaboration.
