Molly Bang
Old Mother Bear
www.mollybang.com
Molly grew up in Baltimore and spent summers in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, a scientific community by the ocean. After graduating college with a degree in French in 1965, she took off for Japan to teach English. Upon her return to the U.S. nearly a year and a half later, Molly began work as an interpreter for a Japanese newspaper. Several masters degrees later, Molly decided that she wasn't suited for scholarly research and a life spent in libraries. Then she worked at a newspaper, where she learned how unsuited she was as a reporter by getting fired. At this low point, two close friends convinced her that she should pursue a lifelong dream: to illustrate children's books. Today Molly is the illustrator and author of many books, including Old Mother Bear, Picture This, and Harley.

Annie Barrows
Ivy and Bean: The Series
www.anniebarrows.com
Annie Barrows's first job was in her local children's library. Her second job was working at a bookstore. For her third job, she was the subscription manager of a weekly magazine. Fourth, she was an editor at a textbook company, while at the same time running her own literary quarterly. After that, she became an editorial assistant at Chronicle Books, where she worked for nine years, retiring as senior editor in order to begin her career as an author and writing teacher. After writing numerous books for grown-ups, Annie decided that she'd rather write for children and began the popular Ivy and Bean series. She plans to learn how to manufacture paper next, since that's the only book-related job she's never had.
