How many people does it take to make a book? You might be surprised. From the editors and designers who dream up our products to the sales and marketing teams that get them out into the world, we look for curious minds that see things differently, and want to help others see things differently too.
If you are interested in applying for a job with us, email your resume and cover letter to firstname.lastname@example.org. Due to the large volume of applications, we are unable to directly communicate application status with everyone who applies. As the search process for each role unfolds, we will reach out to most qualified candidates. All job opportunities featured are active searches. If you are interested in a particular area of our company that is not currently hiring, be sure to clearly note your area of interest or preferred role in your cover letter and subject line of your application email.
Email is our preferred application method for all candidates and general employment inquiries. For creative roles requiring a portfolio submission in addition to a resume, include a link to your portfolio site in either your resume or cover letter. Be aware that it may take some time before we are able to review your application. If no suitable job openings are immediately available when you apply, your resume will be kept on file.
Chronicle Books, LLC is an equal opportunity employer.
As the need arises, we do offer college and entry-level editorial internships with our Publishing Groups (Art, Entertainment, Food/Lifestyle, and Children's) and, more rarely, with our Marketing/Publicity and Sales teams. These are hourly positions with highly flexible schedules. The typical duration of each internship is several months. As we place candidates throughout the year, start dates vary and are difficult to predict. If you are interested in an internship, you should submit a resume and cover letter, which clearly details the team with which you are interested in working and your dates of availability, via email to email@example.com. Be sure to include the word "Internship" in your subject line. Due to the high interest, we will only be able to contact candidates we are considering placing. No phone calls, please.
Intern responsibilities vary, but can include evaluating manuscripts, aiding in mail/submissions sorting and declines, helping with mailings and publicity campaigns, attending meetings, and many other small office tasks. All interns must be highly organized, flexible, and able to effectively multitask. Background or interest in publishing is a plus.
Please note: We do not offer scheduled "Summer Internships." Interns are placed on a rolling basis throughout the year, which sometimes may coincide with a collegiate summer break.
Chronicle Books is excited to accept submissions for our new 12-month Design Fellowship program, which provides hands-on experience to recent graduates interested in embarking on a career in publishing, package, or product design. Fellowships are available in our Publishing Design, Marketing Design, Children’s Design, and Product Development groups.
Interested in a design internship? We have those too! To be considered, email your statement of purpose, resume, and a PDF or link to your portfolio to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Retail Store Opportunities
We occasionally hire additional hourly retail sales associates at our three stores in San Francisco. These opportunities are hard to predict and the need is variable depending on the location. If you are interested in retail store work, please inquire directly about staffing needs at the store of interest.
