Good patterns but translation problems
3/28/12| LisaThe projects in this book are very cute and the stitch guide and charts are excellent. The photography is beautiful. There are a couple of problems though.
The recommendation of lace thread does not specify weight which can greatly change the size of a project. There is no guage to go by. The last problem is that there are quite a few errors in translation as well.
If you are experienced and can read charts, these problems can be overcome resulting in some truly beautiful crochet projects. I am glad I bought the book but could not recommend it to a beginner. -
Kyuuto! = Cute + Easy
10/11/11| christi jensenAs a veteran of many a Japanese craft book, I think I can safely say that the time spent figuring out the pattern is more often than not worth every hour. Leave to Chronicle to give us the incredible coolness of Japanese craft book patterns without the (often painful) learning curve. If you have a decent handle on the basics, you can whip up some seriously cute booties, box covers, daisy covered potholders and more. Start now and Christmas is a cake walk. -
Super kyuuto!
10/11/11| Guinevere HarrisonThis is the latest book I've added to my shelf of "things I am totally going to learn how to do as soon as I have some free time."
It might take a little while, since I already have vowed to pick up knitting, felting, sewing, embroidery, gardening, surfing, raising a puppy, cooking, skate boarding, and ballet.
But Lacy Crochet is definitely going to be worth it. The patterns and photos are super kyuuto! (get it? = CUTE). I think I should also probably learn Japanese so I can find other crafts that haven't yet made it to the states. Fun! I can't wait!
