Misguided information10/11/11| Rebecca SmithI I really liked the book, there is a lot of good general info in it. However, the American Staffordshire Terrier page has false information... Such as : "This dog should always be on lead or it will fight with other dogs" or "Though obedient to it's master, this dog is always willing to fight, making him also suitable as a guard dog" Those statements aren't in the least bit true. I know many Pit Bulls personally that can be off lead and be perfectly fine, on the other hand....yes, there are some that will fight with others. I think there needs to be yet another revised version of this book because that "myth" needs to be cleared up. ANY dog has the ability to fight another dog when it's off leash, it all depends on the animals genetics and personality traits. Now for the "always willing to fight, making him also a suitable guard dog" part, that's also false. These dogs would be more likely to lick an intuder to death rather than maul him. I really wish people could understand that it's not this breed that everyone needs to be worried about, they are not the world's most aggressive breed and books like this don't help these poor dogs any.....
