If you are interested in applying for a job with Chronicle Books, please email your resume with a cover letter to email@example.com. Please note that due to the large volume of applications, we are unable to directly communicate application status with all applicants. As the search process for each listing unfolds, we will reach out to most qualified candidates. All job opportunities listed on our site are active searches. If you are interested in a particular area of our company that is not currently hiring, please be sure to clearly note your area of interest or preferred role in your cover letter and the subject line of your application email.
Email is our preferred application method for all candidates and general employment inquiries. For creative roles requiring a portfolio submission in addition to a resume, please include a link to your portfolio site either in your resume or cover letter.
Please be aware that it may take some time before we are able to review your resume. If no suitable job openings are immediately available when you apply, your resume will be kept on file.
Chronicle Books, LLC is an equal opportunity employer.
Please note: We do not offer scheduled "Summer Internships." Interns are placed on a rolling basis throughout the year, which sometimes may coincide with a collegiate summer break.
As the need arises, we do offer college- and entry-level editorial internships with our Publishing Groups (Art, Lifestyle, Entertainment, Food/Drink, and Childrens') and, more rarely, with our Marketing/Publicity and Sales teams. These are hourly positions with highly flexible schedules. The typical duration of each internship is several months. As we place candidates throughout the year, start dates vary and are difficult to predict. If you are interested in an internship, you should submit a resume and cover letter, which clearly details the team with which you are interested in working and your dates of availability, via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please be sure to note "Internship" in your subject line. Due to the high interest, we will only be able to contact candidates we are considering placing. Please no phone calls.
Intern responsibilities vary, but can include evaluating manuscripts, aiding in mail/submissions sorting and declines, helping with mailings and publicity campaigns, attending meetings, and many other small office tasks. All interns must be highly organized, flexible, and able to effectively multitask. Background or interest in publishing is a plus.
RETAIL STORE OPPORTUNITIES
We do occasionally hire additional hourly Retail Sales Associates at our three retail store locations within San Francisco. These opportunities are hard to predict and the need is variable between stores. If you are interested in retail store work, please inquire about staffing needs directly at the store location you are most interested in working.
