Chronicle Books seeks an entry-level, highly organized, and detail-driven Sales Assistant with demonstrated success in juggling multiple demands, laser-like focus and seamless follow-through. As a Sales Assistant, you’ll provide day-to-day administrative and project management for several Managers. You will also be expected to make sales calls, send emails, and do other activities that support the Sales organization.


A robust productivity skillset – including Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint– provides you with the fundamental tools to manage and meet competing deadlines. You must possess a willingness to change focus quickly when the situation demands it. Strong candidates have a passion for books and gifts. They also have a desire to provide exceptional task support.

Job Responsibilities


Sales Conferences and other meetings; Gather and prepare materials; schedule appointments, meetings, and conferences; prepare presentations using PowerPoint; help staff, coordinate, and manage logistics.


  • Overall General support for Executive Director of Sales, Independent Specialty Team, and Sales Reps
  • Enter and update data in, Excel spreadsheets, and other systems
  • Manage account purchase orders, work with Operations on vendor
  • Engage in New and Existing Business development (phone, email, in-person…)
  • Manage shipment tracking, order status updates, transmission records
  • Be the liaison with the relevant contacts at key accounts and distributors, including inventory personnel, planners, account executives, assistant buyers and buyers, etc.
  • Interact and communicate with internal contacts to obtain and deliver information
  • Coordinate sales materials: mockups, advances, finished copy samples, and catalogs
  • Maintain detailed projection and weekly sales grids




  • BA/BS degree or equivalent preferred
  • Professional, fulltime office experience (internships acceptable); prior administrative work or sales support is preferred
  • Clear written and verbal communications, with a customer service orientation
  • Superior time management and project management skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and follow through
  • Desire to work in a high-performing, collaborative, team environment
  • MS Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word experience
  • Enthusiasm and positive attitude a must!
  • Book experience or experience in a selling environment is helpful
