a true bread (and baking!) bible
10/11/11| Mia BlankensopI have a bit of a, um, baking problem. At my most obsessive, I bake three or four times a week so I was delighted when the Bread Bible came out in paperback. I already own many baking-specific cookbooks so it takes a certain amount of pizzazz to amaze me. Well, Hensperger’s collection is wonderful with classic recipes as well as exotic variations (that are tasty without being pretentious) and great chapters on quick breads or desserts. Try the Eastern European plum cake (a hit every time I bring it to a party) or the absolutely awesome cinnamon rolls made with potato dough. I mean, my God. Those cinnamon rolls are so good they’re practically “Unicorn-frolicking-in-a-fragrant-meadow” magical. Enough chattering – newbie and veteran bakers? Get this book now! You’ll regret nothing.
