Entertaining and appropriate
1/14/12| JaidaBarrows writes directly and with humor, which makes this book enjoyable for both adult and children. Furthermore, Blackall's illustrations are dead on and add to the story, rather than distract the reader away from it. I absolutely loved how the author maintained a child's perspective (a feat within it self), the length was appropriate and the language well chosen. I also loved the description of Ivy's wand … that is exactly how I would have decorated it when I was younger. On to Book 2! -
A fun chapter book for kids
10/11/11| chloe chungAs a current Industrial Design Fellow at Chronicle Books, I'm taking the every opportunity to read the best-sellers, including the children's books. Since Ivy & Bean is a series, I knew there would be something special. The readers won't find this book boring; it's far from it. I can see this book being a great transition for young girls to start reading chapter books.
