Salon salutes editors . . .and I’m cheering along.

Gary Kamiya gave a huge shout-out to editors on Salon today, and it’s a great read for anyone who’s ever wondered what the editors at Chronicle Books do. For starters, he writes:

Editors are craftsmen, ghosts, psychiatrists, bullies, sparring partners, experts, enablers, ignoramuses, translators, writers, goalies, friends, foremen, wimps, ditch diggers, mind readers, coaches, bomb throwers, muses and spittoons—sometimes all while working on the same piece.

All true, but if you’re a Chronicle editor, you’d better add bartender, comedian, crafter, sex therapist, chicken whisperer, video gamer, art critic, gardener, and chef to the list.

As one of many writers who rely on the wisdom and wit of our editors every day, I’m happy to join in on this little love-fest. You guys are the best!
