From the Design Desk: Giving Thanks for Seasonal Design

We’re all familiar with graphic design trends that surround the holidays. It’s not even December yet, and Christmas already feels like it’s upon us with red and green campaigns and merchandise popping up in stores.

Little attention seems to be paid to Thanksgiving in the design world, besides maybe the traditional festive magazine cover.

If you look closely enough though, there is some really lovely work out there for getting you into the turkey-eating, football-watching, thanks-spreading spirit. Today I’d like to take a minute to give thanks for some of my favorite autumn-inspired design.

Setting the table
No Thanksgiving table is complete without thoughtful design details.

Clockwise from top left: leaf escort cards.
Free printables via Heart of Light.
Love the wintery colors in these dishtowels by Marimekko Hauki.
Cute birch bark straws from Terrain.

Wouldn’t this festive packaging sit well on your Thanksgiving table?

Right: Sombersby Hard Cider packaging designed by Taxi Studio.

And how fun would it be to create a tablescape like this instead of a traditional setting? These photos by Carl Kleiner are a delight.

Give Thanks
This is the perfect time of year to give friends and family thank you cards to let them know you appreciate them! Luckily there’s some great Thanksgiving-themed stationery out there.

Thanksgiving doesn’t have to be the only day to count your blessings. This Gratitude Journal is perfect for giving thanks throughout the year.

There truly is so much design goodness to be thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving!
