A Blue Note-able Giveaway
Calling all Jazz lovers, history enthusiasts, and music aficionados: Blue Note: Uncompromising Expression goes on sale today!
Published to commemorate Blue Note’s 75th anniversary, the book traces the evolution of jazz from the boogie-woogie and hot jazz of the 1930s, through bebop, hard-bop, the avant-garde and fusion, to the eclectic mix Blue Note releases today. Here’s a peek inside:
The book features album artwork, unseen contact sheets, ephemera, and reviews of 75 key albums.
To celebrate, we’re giving away a copy and a companion 5-CD singles box. The 75-track collection opens with the label’s first artist, pianist Meade “Lux” Lewis, and closes seventy five years later with the progressive sounds of Derrick Hodge. Curated by author of the Blue Note: Uncompromising Expression, Richard Havers, the singles box also includes singles by Art Blakey, Donald Byrd, John Coltrane, Norah Jones, Thelonious Monk, Cassandra Wilson, and more.
