This Holiday, I Pledge to #GiveBooks!
If you’re reading this blog, you’re no stranger to giving or receiving a book as a gift. It’s easy to identify that particular present when it’s all wrapped up, but even a wrapped book is mysterious. Will it be a cookbook, a journal, a novel, or something you’ve never seen before? How will it strike you at first? How about by the end? And what will you do with what you learn?
For the third year in a row, we’re asking you to share the love of reading, support your local bookseller, and help promote literacy by pledging to give books this holiday season. And we’re so honored to team up again with the nonprofit First Book to make your pledge go even further. For every pledge shared on social media, we will donate a book to a child in need. Last year we donated 10,000 books, and we’d really like to make it a holiday tradition.
Looking for suggestions of which books to give? Some of our favorite bloggers and Instagrammers have got you covered. Over the next few weeks they will be sharing their #GiveBooks picks for season, and we will update with their lists as they are published.
*updated with picks!
Stay tuned, we will keep you posted on our progress towards 10,000 donations and will be sharing other forms of holiday cheer for book lovers. Do you have a favorite book to give? Share in the comments, you might just ease holiday shopping for someone else and give them the second best holiday gift: time!
