Introducing Our 2017-2018 Design Fellows
It’s my pleasure to introduce our latest cohort of Chronicle Books Design Fellows! Joining us from all across the country, these four new faces will spend the next year learning the inner workings of Chronicle Books and the publishing industry.
In addition to contributing to a variety of our books and formats, they will participate in Design Lab, a weekly design workshop led by our Creative Director Michael Carabetta, with the assistance of designers and editors across our publishing teams. Here’s a brief introduction to our new fellows and their work.
Jamie Chen, Marketing Design Fellow
Jamie is from San Jose and is just returning to the Bay Area after graduating from RISD. She’s an incredibly well rounded designer who seems to be able to do it all…print design, branding, and really cool motion graphics! She loves dogs, traveling to icy countries (Iceland and Finland so far) and Hot Cheetos Puffs (not the crunchy ones). We are so happy to have her join our Marcom team!
Anna Cormack, Product Design Fellow
Anna comes to us from Cleveland, Ohio, where she recently finished her degree in Industrial Design from the Cleveland Institute of Art. An interest in publishing runs in her blood (her mother worked in publishing), and Chronicle Books is a great opportunity for her to learn more about this industry, and to apply her skills to this unique role. She has traveled across the country from her hometown of Kansas with her cat Noodle, and enjoys spending her spare time adventuring in the great outdoors. We are very excited to have her here with us!
Maggie Edelman, Children’s Publishing Design Fellow
Maggie is a designer, illustrator, and cat lover hailing from the Hoosier State of Indiana. Graduating from Washington University in St. Louis, she has made stops at URBN/Anthropologie, Omaze, and even our distribution partner, Galison Mudpuppy! Maggie’s work impressed with its tasteful use of typography, illustration, and most importantly—humor.
Spencer Vandergrift , Adult Trade Publishing Design Fellow
Spencer is a recent graduate of CCA and hails from Southern California, so he’s a West Coaster born and bred. He wowed us with his stellar typography skills and his distinctive hand lettering. Spencer loves coffee, corgis, and creating, and we’re thrilled to have him around.
