Chronicle Books is looking for a Director of Sales, Specialty, to provide leadership and direction for sales and business development in various channels including National Specialty, Independent Specialty, Online Retailers and Specialty Wholesalers. The Director will provide overall strategy and direction for growing and sustaining existing retail and wholesale customers and will develop new business both through new accounts and new market channels. 

The Director of Sales will create departmental sales and prospecting strategies, set sales channel goals, manage outside gift rep group partnerships, collaborate with their team for additional sales opportunities, and take part in business reviews and sales calls with key customers. They will work with an internal distribution client team, take responsibility for growing retail proprietary business, develop sales tools, and work closely with Marketing and Publicity on programs and promotions. Forecasting sales, controlling expenses, organizing seasonal needs and workflows, negotiating terms and conditions with accounts, and informing new product acquisitions will also be part of this role.

Candidates should have 10+ years of sales management experience in the gift or book industry, 5+ years of team management experience, and success in managing and growing national account business and identifying new business opportunities. Proficiency in Salesforce, Excel and PowerPoint will also be needed. This position will require some travel (approximately 10%-15%).
