Chronicle Chroma, an imprint of Chronicle Books, seeks a mid-level/senior Print Production Manager to join our team. This position provides both individual book project management and general administrative support for Chronicle Chroma in Los Angeles. The Print Production Manager will work closely with the publishers and our freelance designers to oversee file and project management for print production on all titles, provide administrative and design support and deliver materials for sales and marketing.

The Print Production Manager will work with the editorial team to generate title-specific specifications, create price requests, and troubleshoot pre-production issues while modifying materials and specs as needed. Overseeing complete book production of titles primarily printed in China, calculating purchase orders, liaising between Chroma and Chronicle Books publishing teams, and maintaining data relevant to title production are also key parts of the job. Working with publishers on text and layout changes, reviewing proofs, providing design support, and working with outside pre-press vendors will also be part of this position.

Candidates will need a BA/BS degree, 5 to10 years of print production experience in art book publishing, high proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, InDesign, and Acrobat Pro, and expertise with Photoshop and Illustrator. Strong Excel skills, color print production experience, and knowledge of materials are integral to the job. Effective communication, planning, organizing, and multi-tasking skills are also needed for the role of Print Production Manager. The ability to speak basic Mandarin would be a bonus.
