Chronicle Books seeks a mid-level Designer to work with the Brand Design Director and Brand Design team to create innovative, well-designed brand and marketing materials in keeping with the Chronicle Books aesthetic. This role has a focus on digital and online materials but does include some print materials.
The person in this role will work with Brand staff, Marketing, Publicity, and Sales departments to develop concepts for and manage multiple projects, and design solutions for online promotions. The Designer will design and produce digital and print assets along with trade show and specialty promotional material. Tasks will include social media campaigns, animated gifs or other video output, email blasts, landing pages, and a variety of other promotions. Traditional print projects could include Postcards, ads, sell sheets, mailers, and posters. Other responsibilities include researching vendors, processing covers and art for digital outreach and sales presentations, and organizing archive files. A successful candidate can Design with an eye towards systemized, sustainable workflows that allow other team members to step in and assist when needed.
Candidates should have a B.F.A. in Graphic Design or equivalent, 3 to 5 years of work experience in graphic design, including initial concept generation, through comps, presentations, and preparation of mechanical files. Strong typography skills and basic video and animation skills are must-haves. Knowledge of Premier and After Effects are preferred. Candidates will need to have a command of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator), as well as basic HTML & CSS skills. This position requires someone with strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. The Designer will also need to collaborate and prioritize multiple assignments simultaneously with attention to detail.
