Junior Financial Analyst
Chronicle Books seeks a Junior Financial Analyst to join our team at our San Francisco, CA office. In this role, you will be responsible for sales reporting and financial analysis, including developing and executing sales reports, providing detailed analysis of key account retail sales performance, and reviewing key account and title profitability. You will also work with Distribution, Finance, and Operations staff to develop or refine project-related analysis. The role also delivers recommendations, solutions, strategies, and actions based on the analysis work.
You will provide an understanding of data warehouses and business systems, prepare reports that identify trends, deliver variance analysis, analyze title profitability and help prepare quarterly business reviews and annual budgets along with monthly forecasts.
You should be an Excel/SQL guru who can seamlessly run a profitability analysis and then translate those findings to a non-financial audience. In addition, you will bring 1 to 2 years of experience in financial reporting and analyses, strong analytical skills, and the ability to spot problems and develop solutions. In addition, you will need good communication and collaboration abilities with a BA/BS in Finance or Business or equivalent work experience. A work history in retail/wholesale/inventory is ideal along with familiarity with Oracle and an interest in books/book publishing.

We look for candidates who will add to our culture and support the company’s vision of a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and collaborative workplace. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, age, or veteran status. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
