Behind the Scenes: Photo Styling for The Art of the Bar Cart
From high-end magazines and design-inspiration websites to stores big and small, bar carts are a must-have piece of furniture. Our very own design director Vanessa Dina’s new book The Art of The Bar Cart is officially out—in it, you’ll learn how to create a picture-perfect bar cart and acquire some new drink recipes on the way.
Dina worked closely with photographer Antonis Achilleos to shoot the book; you’ll find that some photos aren’t exactly what they appear to be. Here she shares a behind the scenes look at two shoots.

The Art of the Bar Cart features 20 different themed bar carts, along with celestial cocktail recipes. Each cart was photographed in a unique space—whether the location was a warehouse, someone’s home, or even in the backyard(!), the team transformed every inch into something very special.
Our industrious photographer, Antonis Achilleos, was also our set builder! Here he is escorting a shipment of bar carts into his home.
For our Gin Cart, Antonis created a room set outside. Using materials from Home Depot, he constructed a wall space with clean lines and a modern, contemporary feel.
Note our assistant, Holger, in the background enjoying a quick lunch break.
Antonis worked with natural light to capture beautiful shadows and depth. The final shot embodied a clean, bold look with clear glasses and bright whites. You’d never guess this entire set was built outside in the backyard!
We also transformed Antonis’ kitchen area into a light, airy, feminine space to feature the Punch Cart. The kitchen had supplies in every nook and cranny:
For the perfect shot, we had to extend the floor tiles we were using.
And here’s the final shot, in all its glory:
